MISSION:
It is the Mission of the Spartanburg Spartans
Basketball program to provide a structured environment (free from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, gangs and violence) for young men,
in which we can use athletics as a means of teaching life lessons such as the importance of education and academic achievement,
personal development, self-image, goal setting and attainment, hard work, dedication, good decision-making, time management,
perseverance and desire.
We will emphasize strategies for young
men to use to help them make positive choices and incorporate a positive value system in their everyday lives.
We will prepare young men for success in the classroom to complement their success on the court.
We will discuss and encourage being a role model and becoming a leader in the community.
We will provide young men the opportunity to interact with adult males from different backgrounds who excel in their chosen
fields.
We will offer opportunities for young men who seek maximum development
of their talents by utilizing highly skilled coaches and trainers and by traveling to play against the nation’s best
competition.
OBJECTIVE:
The
objective of the Spartanburg Spartans basketball program is to teach life skills to youth interested in pursuing basketball
as one of the many ways to obtain a college degree.
PHILOSOPHY
The Spartanburg Spartans stress an aggressive style of play that emphasizes the development
of basic fundamentals. The team concept is an absolute necessity with tremendous intensity on defense. This demands
that the student athlete be in great mental and physical condition.

In its first year, our Program recorded an Impressive number of wins, emerging as champions and placing
high in all the tournaments we participated in. The boys worked hard and devoted themselves to playing competitive
basketball. Parents and friends spent countless hours in making the program a success.
The
Spartanburg Organization would like to thank those individuals, as well as each of our sponsors for donating funds which allowed
the program to succeed. Please accept our gratitude for helping the boys excel at this level.
The cost for each player is $350.00 and does not fully cover the costs of our season, but it will enable
us to cover the other costs not covered by the entry fee. Obviously, some players with talent and character will not
be able to afford this entry fee. As our teams continue into the Spring and Summer seasons, please consider donating
funds today. We offer need-based scholarships for participation in the program and require your help to make sure no
child is unable to play due to lack of funds. Donating to the program not only shows your support for our community,
but is a source of advertising for your business on our web site.
